The Dragon Kings The Complete Series eBook Kimberly Loth
I had purchased and read each of the books individually. I happened to catch a sale price on this box set and snagged it since I know I will want to re-read this series again later and see **just** how many things I missed the first time through. (The author has packed a TON of stuff into each book - many are things you don't catch until in a later book.)In case you are new to the series, below are my reviews from each of the individual books:
Obsidian – Book 1
I love dragons – the western version, not the eastern version which reminds me far too much of snakes. Or at least I love the idea of western dragons – their majesty and sheer size, and even sometimes their orneriness. So I was right there deep in the story as Aspen meets Obsidian for the first time in his dragon form . To be truthful, I don't know that I would have been as courageous as she was when Obsidian flew right up to her. That was pretty near the beginning of the story, and it just got better from there.
Aspen – Book 2
Aspen and Obsidian are back for more adventure. Too many human body parts have shown up to pretend there isn’t a rogue dragon with a taste for human flesh. Aspen’s love of dragons is a rare point of view among the fear held by most other humans. Relationship problems in the form of Obsidian’s former lover don’t help the stress levels. But we do get to meet several new characters that I loved – like Runa. I was lucky to snag books 2 through 4 when they were on sale near the end of October. The first story was so intriguing that I immediately started this one and did not want to put it down – so I stayed up later than normal to finish it.
Valentine – Book 3
I really, really should not have started this book immediately after the 2nd one of the series with the extra long and busy day I’d already had, but the story line was so intense and engrossing that I couldn’t stop myself. So while it was already late when I began reading it, it was far later in the dark morning hours when I finally put down my Kindle. (Considering I had been nodding off from sheer exhaustion for the previous hour, I managed to read the same couple of paragraphs at least five times before heading to bed. ~lol~) Aspen’s sister joins the story and becomes another main character, all while the rest of them keep the dragon secret from her for much of it. Lots of laugh out loud moments. While not a major character, Runa may actually be my favorite character from the series.
Skye – Book 4
After finishing book 3, I dove directly into this story. While the first 3 books in the series were sequential, this book actually covers time across more than one of the previous books. Not only do we find out why Skye and Rowan have been missing, but we learn the answers to a number of “loose threads” that weren’t super apparent as concepts that hadn’t been fleshed out. So many things that seemed unimportant or just periphery items are explained and the picture zooms out to show us the whole deal (or pretty close to it). The dragons are heading to war, and we find out why and mostly who is on which sides. I zoomed through the story, not able to devour it fast enough. And then the story ended – and I wanted the next installment **now**. ~lol~ I am eagerly looking forward to the 5th story in the series.
The Kings – Book 5
This final installment in the series wraps up all the pieces from the first four books. So many things have been hinted at during the previous stories, and this one reveals which were “red herrings” and which were real foreshadowing. There were even a few things that made me hit my forehead and wonder why I didn’t catch them earlier on. The action will have you cheering, laughing, breathing a sigh of relief, and likely even crying at times.

The Dragon Kings The Complete Series eBook Kimberly Loth Reviews
I bought this set because it was on sale and I needed to read more. Also, the title seemed interesting! It's a nice read. Easy to read and understand. The storyline was very nice too! It had me hooked so hard. I caught myself staying up late after work to find out what happens next.
It is pretty cheesy tho. At times it made me laugh and shake my head because of some cheesy parts. It is something really a good read for a high school girl. Me being a male and a college student, I thought some parts were something that a younger person (especially a girl because it does have some lovey-dovey stuff. Not saying that guys cant enjoy it! because It was cool for me) would enjoy.
Overall it was cool. The story was nice and I am hooked!!
If you start reading one you won't be able to put it down till the very end. A beautiful romantic story with adventure, excitement, mystery and suspense. Finally a story I wasn't able predict the ending! Thank you so much for sharing your story. You have a great story-telling talent. I look forward to reading more of your books.
I got this because of high reviews and its seller status, but now I regret not paying more attention to the people who warned about the cheesy plot. I like to give YA books a fair shot since many of them are fine for any age, but this series needs a lot of polish. I only gave it two stars because it somehow kept me reading through 2 1/2 of the books and I at least got the full set on sale. I got to book 3 and one of the main characters was so selfish as to be unlike-able, the characters were so oblivious to the obvious that it just became absurd, and I was just done. Combine that with the contrived plot devices that had me rolling my eyes over and over again and I can't bring myself to finish the rest of the books, not even for a tale of dragons. I am giving a review because I rarely walk away from a highly rated book, but this series needs a more balanced and realistic rating. The author shows promise, I hope she gets a good editor and writing coach.
I was able to read the first book Obsidian for free. I loved it so much I went and bought the boxed set before I even finished the first book. Not to give too much away, it was interesting on how the dragons and humans interacted. At first I didn't like Aspen she seemed like a spoiled, stuck up brat, but then I warmed to her. As the books go on there is a plucky little dragon that everyone will like (the unruly child in all of us).
I absolutely love this series! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time I couldn't turn the pages quick enough! It's an amazing series about love honor loyalty and respect!
This is a very incomplete review as I have only gotten halfway through the first book in the series.
Well fleshed out characters, story moves quickly making you anticipate whats coming next!
In retrospect I'm thinking this series might just need to be upgraded to young adults and not young teens even though its seems ideal for them.
I remember that there is a violent rape scene. Even so it is relevant to the character in question.
Therefore Parents you might want to read the book yourself first. And it is an enjoyable read nonetheless.
I saw this series on sale and thought my daughters would enjoy it. I decided to take a look at it myself and was totally blown away. The story has a lot of twists and turns. I was able to engross myself in he story without feeling like I already knew what was coming. I am so glad I bought the complete set. As soon as I finished one book I just had to keep reading and start the next book. I loved that it was clean and I could encourage my teens to read it. I was amazed and grateful it was so well thought out and written that I also enjoyed it. I am now going to go see what other books Kimberly Loth has written and purchase those. I really enjoyed her writing style. The plot was well thought out, the dialogue flowed naturally. The romance was satisfying. I loved these characters and this story!
